Has anybody got information on whether DOT has plans to resurface 101 in the Brinnon/Quil area anytime soon? The patches upon patches are getting a little old...

...Not that we get a whole lot of traffic these days, but it's getting to a point that would be rediculous if it weren't so dangerous.

It was mentioned lastnight (4/08/04) at the Commissioners-On-The-Road community monthly meeting that there will be no passing lanes going in at Mt. Walker. Surveying is being done which may indcate the State's plan to resurface soon. This may be in response to the up-and-coming traffic, which will be coming up from the south, through Brinnon and Quilcene, up to State Route 20 at Discovery Bay, expected because of the Hood Canal Bridge closure that is planned. The three commissioners indicated that the resurfacing is not planned, yet. But, they interpret the surveying to be possible indication of movement in that direction.

Thanks D'Daisy. I'm thinking about the whole route. A stretch near Seal Rock CG is what comes to mind. You can only patch so many times.

Assuming that this will be the last year of the Dose Road closure, and that the bridge closure is still a few years out, when would it be a better time to resurface?

Wait... maybe I've answered my own question: They'll resurface once the existing pavement is too disintegrated to provide a stable base for the new layer. Yes. That must be it.

 If the resurfacing of East Quil Road is any example we had best be satisfied with 101 in it's current condition.
Of cource the county did east Quil all so the new culvert on Dabob Road and niether one is really finished.
Lets hope the state can do a better job.
